For matters regarding residence registration and motor vehicle registration

 

What do I need to bring with me?

Reserve an appointment online or by phone

Reserve an appointment online or by phone under 0431 901-904. 

In the waiting areas of the city district offices you will be called by name on a monitor. If you do not want your name to appear on the screen, please make an appointment by phone so we can take this into account. Unfortunately this option is currently not possible for online registrations.

In City Hall you will be called by the number you received at the information desk (entrance 1).

You do not need an appointment for these services:

City Hall

At City Hall (Fleethörn 9, Information counter, door 1) you do not need an appointment if you only require these services

  • Issuance of registration certificates if you have already registered
  • Household certificates, residence permits for the registry office or life certificates
  • JGA Examination certificates for medical examinations according to the Youth Employment Protection Act
  • Buying fishing vouchers
  • Buying family passes
  • Changing address entry in ID cards after you have already moved or changed address
  • Modification of vehicle registration papers after a change of address within Kiel
  • Unregistering if you are leaving Germany
  • Printing the tax identification number
  • Picking up your finished identity card or passport
  • Applying for a certificate of good conduct - you can do that online as well at the Bundesjustizamt (activated online ID function in identity card required).
  • Payment of welcome money for students / trainees (after registration of residence)

Please go directly to the counter during our opening hours. Do not wait in line. We recommend visiting outside our service on demand hours (9 a.m.  - 12 p.m.).

Service on demand only for urgent identity card / passport issues with waiting time (limited contingent)

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Urgent issues: upcoming trip, ID / passport has expired, loss of identification documents.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, please cancel it so that we can give the slot to somebody else. Please call 0431 901-904 or send an e-mail to .

Even appointments cancelled at short notice will be freed up. Check the current booking situation on weekdays as from 8am. Maybe you can get an earlier appointment at short notice.

Dealing with the matter at the Einwohnermeldeamt (residents' registration office) in order to fulfil the legal registration and identification obligations is by appointment only. When booking an appointment, information about your name, surname and e-mail address is stored, solely for the purpose of allocating an appointment, and in accordance with Article 6 (1) (e) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 3 (1) of the State Data Protection Law for Schleswig-Holstein of 17. 05. 2018.

Providing your telephone number is entirely voluntary, in accordance with Article 6 (1) (a) in conjunction with Article 7 of the GDPR, for the purpose of contacting you at short notice in the event of unexpected problems regarding the agreed appointment. Similarly, in the "comments" field you can voluntarily provide any further information which you consider necessary for allocating the appointment.

All the above-mentioned data will be deleted 3 months after the appointment. Beyond this period, your data is only stored if you expressly agree to this on a voluntary basis, in accordance with Article 6 (1) (a) in conjunction with Article 7 of the GDPR, by ticking the appropriate box. This data will be stored as a so-called "cookie" file on your computer / mobile device, and kept for 1000 days. However, you can delete this cookie at any time in the browser with which you made the appointment. The consent to store the data for future requests only relates to storage on your own computer / mobile device - this data will not be stored directly by the City of Kiel.

With regard to the voluntary information we save, you may revoke your consent to storage at any time, without providing any reasons. You can inform us of your revocation of consent either by post, e-mail or fax.

How does the appointment reservation work?

Find the week in the calendar. Click on a free time slot. Click "continue" below the calendar.

At the top of the form, enter (at least) your last name, first name and e-mail. Click submit.

Check your mailbox within an hour: you will receive a confirmation e-mail from us.
