Kiel - Sovetsk:
activities
Since
the city twinning started, there have been visits at the highest local government
level by delegations from Sovetsk to Kiel and also visits from the Kiel City
Hall to the Russian twin city.
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft der freien Wohlfahrtspflege (Voluntary Welfare Services
Working Group), the German-Russian Society, the Stadtgemeinschaft Tilsit (Tilsit
City Community), the newspaper Kieler Express and the Land Capital Kiel are
supporting various groups of the population and organisations in Sovetsk. In
addition, the Kiel city administration advises the twin city on the stabilisation
of democratic structures.
In 2002, Sovetsk celebrated its 450th anniversary. The Land Capital Kiel took
this occasion to organise a reception in the City Hall, at which Sovetsk was
represented by a delegation headed by the President of the Sovetsk City Council.
