Kiel - Tallinn:
activities
The
city twinning agreement of 1986 already envisaged organising, every three years,
"Tallinn Days" in Kiel und "Kiel Days" in Tallinn. The presentation of these
events tended in the early years to have a sporting or cultural character. In
the meantime, seminars and specialist discussions with representatives of the
two twin cities have come to the fore.
Over the years, close contacts have been established at almost all levels, for
instance in politics, business and administration, in the area of schools and
higher education, in the fields of sport and of culture. The "Freundeskreis
Estland” (Friends of Estonia Circle), the German Red Cross, the Allgemeine Rettungsverband
Kiel, the churches, HSH Nordbank, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a
number of other groups and associations have become especially involved in collaboration
with Kiel’s Estonian twin city.
A delegation from Tallinn regularly visits the Land Capital for the Kieler Woche
and the International City Forum.
