Kiel - Kaliningrad: activities

It is true that the twinning with Kaliningrad has only been established for a relatively short time. But nevertheless the number of activities and encounters has been very large. It is only possible to cite a few examples here – the Kieler Woche, Christmas Market and International City Forum in Kiel, links to children’s homes and nursing homes, "Baltic Fleet Days" and the "Day of the City" in Kaliningrad. Official departments or fire brigades, doctors or naval officers have exchanged experiences. In addition, there are two-way exhibitions, theatre productions and concerts.

As an example of all the organisations, groups, and individuals which have been involved in the exchange or have assisted it in many different ways, mention should be made here of the German-Russian Society, the City Hospital, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der freien Wohlfahrtspflege, the coordination unit “Älter werden" (Growing Older), the Social Services Office, the Environmental Protection Office, Postbank and Post AG, the Kieler Ausbildungs- und Beschäftigungsgesellschaft (an agency for further professional training and employment), the Kiel School of Music, the Die Komödianten theatre group, the newspaper Kieler Express and the radio station Norddeutscher Rundfunk.
