Some facts about the city of Tallinn
Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, lies on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, and, with almost 400,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in Estonia. Almost half the population is Russian-speaking. Until Estonia achieved independence, Tallinn was the capital of a Soviet republic.
The city is one of the most important in the Baltic Sea region, not least because of its historical treasures. The old city of Tallinn is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Tallinn is a Baltic commercial centre and has an important ferry and sea trade port as well as an international airport.
