UBC - Union
of the Baltic Cities
Kiel is a member of the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC), the federation of Baltic Sea area cities which was founded in 1991. Many of Kiel’s twin cities are also members of this large network.
The UBC aims at
creating a platform for the political leaders and city management
in the Baltic Sea region,
planning and implementing joint projects and activities,
serving as a mouthpiece for the views, problems and political agendas
of these cities.
Since it was founded, with 32 members, the UBC has grown to its present membership of
104 cities from all ten Baltic Sea states.
