about the city of Vaasa
Vaasa,
the sunniest city in Finland, lies on the western coast of the country, and
is a small but international major city with around 57,000 inhabitants. A quarter
of the city’s population belong to the Swedish minority in Finland.
Kiel’s twin city is Eastern Bothnia’s gateway to the west, the educational centre
of the region with several higher education institutions and the second-largest
commercial centre in Finland. The port and the airport are important both for
tourism and also for cargo handling. Industry has a long tradition in Vaasa.
Among other things, it was in Vaasa that the first automobile in Finland was
built.
