Olympic Centre Kiel‑Schilksee
Kiel-Schilksee is world-famous. In 1972, the Olympic sailing competitions were held here at the Olympiazentrum.
Since then, Schilksee has been at the sporting heart of the legendary Kieler Woche and many other international and national regattas.
Insider tip about Schilksee
The Olympiazentrum – one of Germany's largest Sportboothäfen (sports marina) – offers a unique maritime flair for beachgoers, swimmers from the Swimmhalle (swimming pool), walkers, conference and training course participants, cyclists, nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. A visit to Schilksee can be rounded off with a well-balanced and nutritious meal or bite to eat.
The Olympiazentrum Schilksee is the national training centre of the German Sailing Federation (DSV) and with its sports boarding school, it is the Kiel office of the Olympiastützpunkt Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein (Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein Olympic training centre).
The Olympiazentrum Kiel-Schilksee, situated to the north of the Kiel Canal, is a historical sports location that continues to host national and international sports events today.
The foundation stone for the Olympiazentrum was laid back in 1969. Then, in 1972, the Olympic sailing competitions were held here. Kiel-Schilksee has since become the sporting heart of the legendary Kieler Woche and many other sailing regattas.
